Transport Connections is recruiting reliable and professional PHV Drivers to provide safe home-to-school transport for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
This role involves transporting vulnerable passengers to and from schools, ensuring a safe, caring and punctual service at all times.
Main Responsibilities
* Safely transport SEND passengers to and from school
* Ensure passengers are secure and comfortable during journeys
* Work closely with Passenger Assistants, parents/carers and schools
* Maintain a calm, patient and professional manner
* Carry out daily vehicle checks and maintain cleanliness standards
* Follow safeguarding, health & safety and local authority transport procedures
* Report incidents, concerns or delays appropriately
Essential Requirements
* Valid PHV/Private Hire Driver Licence
* Licensed and insured PHV vehicle (if applicable)
* Must have lived in the UK continuously for a minimum of 5 years
* Must be aged 21 or over
* Good spoken and written English
* Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check covering children and adults
* Professional and reliable attitude
Preferred Experience
* Experience working with SEND passengers or school transport
* Knowledge of safeguarding and disability awareness
* Experience using wheelchair accessible vehicles is an advantage
Mandatory Training
Successful applicants may be required to complete:
* Safeguarding & Child Protection Training
* Disability Awareness Training
* Emergency Evacuation Procedures
* SEND Passenger Care Training
These requirements are in line with local authority Travel Assistance Service standards for SEND transport contracts.
