As an Finance Assistant at Henry Boot PLC, you will play a key role in supporting the Group Finance Department by processing and maintaining the purchase ledger for various group companies. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking team, where your attention to detail and proactive approach will help ensure the smooth running of our finance operations.

Main Responsibilities

• Processing and coding supplier invoices for group companies.
• Entering supplier invoices and credit notes into the accounting system.
• Data input and maintenance of purchase ledger records.
• Liaising with colleagues internally and suppliers externally to resolve queries.
• Ensuring correct approval is obtained for purchase invoices and payments.
• Preparation of payment runs for group companies.
• Reconciliation of purchase ledger balances.
• Providing detailed account information to auditors as required.
• Filing, scanning, and maintaining accurate records.
• Maintenance of daily cash books and daily bank reconciliation.
• Preparation of daily cash figures.
• Assisting in the preparation and production of regular and ad-hoc reports and spreadsheets.
• Supporting the finance team with ad-hoc tasks and projects as required.
• Observing strict confidentiality and representing the best interests of Henry Boot Group at all times.
• Providing cover for other team members as needed.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Previous experience in a finance or accounts assistant role is desirable but not essential.
• Good numeracy skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently with data input and financial records.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Good communication skills for liaising with colleagues and suppliers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Willingness to learn and undertake training as required.
• Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues.
• Commitment to confidentiality and high standards of integrity.
