Hethersett Parish Council is a fast expanding, rural parish and the 4th largest authority in South Norfolk. It is proud to serve the people of Hethersett, delivering and enabling a range of services to residents and visitors – from open spaces, allotments (in 2026), streetlights and many other assets.
The Responsible Finance Officer (RFO) role will suit anyone with relevant experience and qualifications, who strives for new challenges and who can help us develop and execute our plans to deliver projects of great benefit to our residents.
To help achieve that aim the Council has taken the decision to separate the role of Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO). It is now seeking an enthusiastic RFO for this friendly, busy parish.
The RFO will join our fantastic parish office team of 2 staff, as we work to create an exciting future and embrace opportunities to enhance our great village.
If you have the attitude, skills and experience that we need, we want to hear from you.
The RFO will work under the direction of the Clerk but with a focus on the duties and responsibilities relating to the Council’s financial affairs. This will ensure that the Council continues to operate within the legal framework for local authorities and complies with current legislation, statements of recommended practice and accounting codes of practice. The Council is also keen to maximise its opportunities to secure grants and funding from external sources.
