Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Recycling Operative to join our environmentally conscious team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the collection, sorting, and processing of recyclable materials. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to sustainability efforts while working in a dynamic and supportive environment. Previous experience is not essential, but a keen interest in environmental initiatives and physical fitness are advantageous.
Duties
- Collect recyclable materials from designated areas using appropriate equipment
- Sort and separate recyclables according to material type and quality standards
- Operate machinery involved in the processing of recyclables, ensuring safety protocols are followed
- Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of recycling facilities and equipment
- Conduct routine inspections to identify potential hazards or equipment malfunctions
- Assist with loading and unloading materials, including heavy lifting as required
- Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to maintain a safe working environment
- Record data related to recycling volumes and materials processed for reporting purposes
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge is beneficial for operating and troubleshooting recycling machinery
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during sorting and handling tasks
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail when sorting materials
- Physical stamina and strength to work on feet for extended periods and handle demanding tasks
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures within industrial settings
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- A proactive attitude towards environmental sustainability initiatives
