LGV Refuse Collection Driver (Part-Time Afternoons)

Coast Environmental Limited is an independent waste management and recycling company based in Hastings, East Sussex. We provide reliable and professional waste collection services to commercial customers across the local area.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a dependable and hardworking LGV Refuse Collection Driver to join our friendly and close-knit team.
The Role
This is a hands-on driving role operating a 26-tonne Refuse Collection Vehicle (RCV). You will be responsible for carrying out scheduled commercial waste and recycling collections safely, efficiently, and professionally.
Collections may include:
- Wheelie bins of various sizes
- Waste sacks
- Loose waste and recycling materials
This is a physically active outdoor role and would suit someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and delivers excellent customer service.
Current Working Pattern
- Monday to Wednesday
- Afternoon/evening shifts
- Start time approximately 1:00pm–1:30pm until finish
- Bank Holiday working required (excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day)
Please note: this role is expected to develop into a full-time 5-day early morning shift position in the future. As below.
Future Working Pattern
The successful candidate should be flexible, as the role is expected to transition into:
- 5-day working week
- Early morning starts approximately 4:30am–5:00am
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled waste and recycling collections
- Complete daily vehicle checks and defect reporting
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and undertake light daily maintenance
- Deliver high standards of customer service
- Work safely and in line with company procedures and legal requirements
- Support the wider operations team where required
Requirements
Essential
- Valid Category C (Class 2) driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years
- Current Driver CPC qualification
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling duties
- Good understanding of road safety and vehicle care
- Reliable, professional, and able to work independently
Desirable
- Previous experience in waste management or refuse collection
- Good local area knowledge
- Clean driving licence preferred
