About the role

We are seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function across a small, diverse group of businesses.

This is a part-time role (22.5 – 30 hours over 3 – 4 days per week, negotiable) with a hybrid working pattern, requiring a minimum two days in the office, located in Haddington, East Lothian.

Salary: £45,000 per annum (pro-rata)

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing cash flow, ensuring compliance and providing clear, practical financial insights and strategic solutions for informed decision-making.

This is a practical, operational role at the centre of a small but fast-moving group of businesses.

What we are looking for

You will have:

• Proven experience across core finance activities, including bookkeeping, VAT, cash flow, and strong data-driven management reporting, with the ability to produce insight-led outputs to support decision-making
• A deep understanding of UK VAT and accounting requirements across small and multi-entity businesses
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships
• Confidence working independently with full ownership of the finance function, with the ability to prioritise and make sound decisions
• Proficient skills in accounting software, including Xero and Microsoft Excel

You will be comfortable taking responsibility for the finance function and working closely with senior leadership in a small, fast-moving environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date book-keeping records
• Proactive management of all sales and purchase invoices
• Regular retail till and card payment reconciliations petty cash management
• Monthly management accounts and reporting
• Multi-entity finance support
