The Role

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will carry out care duties for patients, in support of a registered nurse, and will regularly work unsupervised. You will carry out assigned duties to maintain hygiene, order and safety within the ward environment.

In this key role, you will:

• Carry out assigned tasks to deliver and support direct patient care, under the direction of a registered nurse, to ensure delivery of a high quality of patient care
• • Assist in the preparation of patients for procedures.
  • Assist with admission, transfer and dischare of patients.
  • Assist in the collection of routine urine/blood specimens.
  • Monitor and order supplies and carry out required housekeeping duties, in order to support patient care.

• Provide, guidance and support to less experienced staff (e.g. Bank, Healthcare Assistants, HNC / Homecare) under the direction of a registered nurse
• Assist in maintaining and promoting patients’ nutritional intake and fluid balance e.g. serving food and fluids and assisting patients, as required
• Work within NHS Lanarkshire policies and procedures (eg Health and Safety, Security, Fire, Cardiac Arrest, etc), as well as local guidance to ensure maintenance of confidentiality and safe working practices for patients and colleagues and promote the effective use of resources

What You’ll Bring:

• SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience working within a caring environment/role.
• Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment
