The Clinical immunology department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS trust is looking to recruit a Biomedical Support Worker (AfC Band 2) to join our friendly busy team. We would welcome applications from enthusiastic individuals who are able to work independently but crucially as part of a team to ensure we deliver a comprehensive service.
Main duties of the job
To collect, deliver, receive and assist in the processing of clinical diagnostic specimens for biological testing
To undertake routine clinical technical investigations, this may involve operating complex equipment following standard operating procedures. Some of this work may be under supervision.
To enter and retrieve patient demographic details using the laboratory information system
As the job holder you will be required to work as a member of the departmental team, communicating effectively with colleagues and other healthcare staff.

Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and good attention to detail. Candidates should work well as part of a team and be keen to learn new skills. Previous laboratory experience is desirable, but not essential as full training will be provided. Experience in laboratory LIMS, such as WINPATH would be an advantage.
