We are looking for a highly motivated individuals to join Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSMHFT) as Trainee Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioners. This is an exciting new role, to support the transformation of our community services for adults with severe mental problems. This role will contribute to ensuring adults with severe mental health problems have greater access to psychologically informed interventions. There are two posts and one will be based at Northcroft CMHT, Erdington, Birmingham and the second at Orsborn House CMHT, Handsworth, Birmingham.
As a Trainee Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner, you will undertake a one-year training is in collaboration with the University of Derby and will commence in March 2025. Dependent on your existing qualifications, you will achieve either a graduate certificate or postgraduate certificate. Posts are full-time. Your training will be fully funded by the NHS (Band 4) and you will be eligible for a full-time qualified position (Band 5) on successful completion of the course.
The Trainee Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner will:
Complete a combination of academic and clinical work across the one-year programme
Attend all elements of the training programme of study and progress successfully through assessments of competence and attainment
Develop and practice psychologically-informed interventions under supervision, working directly with adults in the community
Support collaborative care planning, alongside other members of the multi-disciplinary team
Work closely alongside a team of mental health professionals to deliver a set of brief wellbeing-focused psychologically informed interventions
Please note: Trainee mental health wellbeing practitioner posts are training positions. Progression into a permanent contract is subject to successful completion of the course. Successful candidates will be expected to travel to the University of Worcester to complete their training, but the clinical post will be based in the CMHT. The training will be blended to include remote learning and on site.
