Job Overview
Clifton Rise Family Practice looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Part time Temporary Medical Receptionist to help with the day to day running of our GP practices in the centre of New Cross. The Receptionist will be joining our small friendly team to provide and maintain high standards of patients care as well as management and administrative tasks.
Must be prepared to work flexible hours
Good interpersonal skills, excellent IT skills , good telephone manner, communication skills, EMIS Web and Docman Management Trained, previous experience is desirable but not essential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The work involves dealing with telephone and face to face queries. Use of IT is a part of the role.
Administration
· To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
· To work in accordance of written protocols
· Filing post in medical records
· Fax and photocopy as requested
· Ensure courier takes all documentation and samples at the appropriate time
· Open and distribute incoming mail
· Docman workflow management
Reception
· Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients any other visitors to the practice
· Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments
· Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
· Be able to cover all reception position as necessary
· Prepare lists and notes for all surgeries and clinics held, ensuring completion of all associated paperwork
Appointments
· Process appointment requests for today future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
· Enter requests for home visits into the spreadsheet, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor
Telephone
· Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery
· Have working knowledge of telephone/bleep system, during and after hours.
Other Tasks
· Assist the evening surgery by checking the prescriptions before they are given to the patient
· Open up premises at the start of the day when first to arrive and make all the necessary preparations to receive patients
· Ensure all Health & Safety checks are undertaken within the desired timescales as indicated in the Practice’s Health & Safety Policy
· When last to leave at the end of the day, ensure that the surgery is totally secured, internal lights are off, all electrical equipment has been turned off.
Hours- 17hrs 30mins per week
The contract is temporary, lasting up to six months, with the possibility of extension.
