Sales Assistant – Children’s Store job at Bath Full Time

The River Mouse is a tiny, new, tucked-away shop on a beautiful cobbled street in the heart of Bath, which is children’s lifestyle store celebrating thoughtfully designed clothes, toys, shoes and gifts for small humans.

We champion independent and UK-based designers, carefully curating pieces that are playful, practical and made to be loved. Alongside clothing, gifts and toys, we also offer a trusted children’s shoe fitting service, helping families find shoes that champion healthy foot development.

We are currently looking for a warm, thoughtful and enthusiastic Sales Assistant to join our very small team in Bath on a part-time basis. The role would be for Saturdays, but with the opportunity for more ad hoc days.

THE ROLE

The Sales Assistant will help deliver an exceptional in-store experience through warm customer service, strong product knowledge and thoughtful attention to detail.

The role will include supporting customers with clothing, gifts and shoe fittings, maintaining beautiful visual presentation throughout the shop and helping with the day-to-day running of our small but busy store.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welcoming and assisting customers in a warm and genuine way
• Providing thoughtful advice on clothing, gifts, toys and children’s footwear
• Championing and learning our children’s shoe fitting service
• Processing sales accurately through the till system
• Helping maintain high visual merchandising and presentation standards throughout the shop
• Receiving deliveries, replenishing stock and keeping the store organised
• Building strong relationships with returning local customers and visitors to Bath
• Supporting social media, displays and seasonal launches where appropriate
• Contributing positively to the atmosphere and culture of our small team

ABOUT YOU

• Previous retail or customer service experience preferred
• Naturally warm, friendly and confident speaking with customers
• An interest in children’s clothing, toys, gifts, design or independent brands
• Willingness to learn children’s shoe fitting
• Calm, organised and happy working alone or in a small team environment
• Comfortable multitasking and using initiative in a busy shop
• Reliable, flexible and proactive
