An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and committed Band 3 Healthcare Assistants to join Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust across Queen’s Hospital and King George Hospital, including opportunities within the Emergency Department, Medicine, Surgery, Geriatrics, the Ageing Well Centre at St George’s Hub and Frailty Virtual Wards.

You will be required to be fully flexible to do shift work that includes day shifts, night shifts, weekends and bank holidays:

• Day shifts (0730 am until 20:00 ) • Night shifts (19:30 until 08:00 am) • These will be Monday to Sunday (including Bank Holidays).

Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a hospital, nursing home or care home setting is essential, along with the ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills and experience of working in an acute healthcare environment. The post holder will play a key role in supporting the initial assessment and ongoing care of patients from admission through to discharge, working closely with registered nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will undertake delegated clinical and non‑clinical duties, support patients with personal care, mobility, nutrition and comfort, carry out vital signs and observations, assist with clinical procedures following training, maintain accurate documentation and promptly escalate any concerns about patient deterioration. Some roles, including the Ageing Well Centre and Frailty Virtual Ward, involve working across community and virtual settings and require a full UK driving licence.

We run a Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
