OR
Trainee, Band 3 (During training period, until all criteria are met)
Are you looking for the next step in your healthcare career? Do you want to develop, work with people and really make a difference? Could this be the training opportunity and role you’ve been looking for?
Within Perth & Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership, we are expanding opportunities for Healthcare Support Workers to develop and progress into the role of an Assistant Practitioner. These are new, exciting and innovative roles supported with education and training from both the NHS Tayside Practice Development Team and UHI Perth or Dundee & Angus College. Successful applicants will be supported to complete a Professional Development Award in Acute & Community Care at SCQF Level 8. The duration of the training period is approximately 1 year, and the course commences September 2026.
As an Assistant Practitioner you will work within the 4 pillars of professional practice, working towards having your own case allocation and delivering high quality, person-centred care. You must be able to communicate effectively, reporting directly to a Registered Nurse and your role will require you to supervise and support other healthcare practitioners and learners.
You must have a caring, professional manner & be able to work to a high academic ability. You must work well in a high-pressure environment and have the ability to adapt to changing situations.
Please note that these positions require the successful applicants to work a variety of shifts, including weekends.
The ethos of this generic role, which will work across Nursing and Allied Health Professional services, is to deliver a person-centred multidisciplinary team approach to support people to remain at home or in a homely setting.
This will include carrying out specific delegated clinical tasks and procedures and responsibilities to a high standard, taking into consideration the specific needs of the targeted population.
We are looking for individuals who demonstrate an energetic and flexible approach to their work, and who have previous experience of working as a support worker. The ability to work well within a team is essential as well as the ability to work without direct supervision. You will need to have excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills and be able to motivate service users.
You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
