Accounts Assistant

We are looking for a motivated, organised, and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking to begin a career in accounting and finance while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a supportive environment. Full training will be provided.

About the Role

• Hours: 20 hours per week (5 days per week)
• Salary: £26,936 per annum (pro rata)

Key Responsibilities

As an Accounts Assistant, you will support the day-to-day operations of the finance department by:

• Processing purchase invoices, sales invoices, credit notes, and refunds
• Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies
• Assisting with bank reconciliations and cash postings
• Maintaining accurate financial records and organised filing systems
• Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
• Responding to and resolving supplier and customer queries
• Assisting with month-end and year-end financial procedures
• Entering and updating data within accounting systems
• Answering telephone enquiries and directing calls as appropriate
• Providing general administrative support to the finance team

Skills and Attributes

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• Good numeracy skills and confidence using IT systems, particularly Microsoft Excel
• A willingness to learn and develop new skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
• A positive, proactive attitude and strong work ethic

Qualifications and Requirements

• A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English
• A genuine interest in pursuing a career in accounting or finance
• Previous accounting experience is not required, as full training will be provided
