Support Officer for Young People
Location: Leeds, LS13
Salary: £250–£300 per day (umbrella)
Shift Pattern: 4 days on (including sleep-in shifts), 8 days off
Contract Type: Full-time
About Arvoss House
Arvoss House is an Independent Living Service supporting young people aged 16+ as they transition towards independent living. We provide a safe, structured and supportive environment where young people can develop confidence, life skills and greater independence.
The Role
We are looking for committed and compassionate Support Officers to support young people in developing the practical and emotional skills needed for independent living.
This is a rewarding role for individuals who are calm, reliable and able to build positive professional relationships with young people.
Main Responsibilities
– Supporting young people aged 16+ with independent living skills
– Providing practical and emotional support
– Encouraging engagement with education, training, employment and community activities
– Maintaining a safe and supportive living environment
– Supporting young people to build confidence, resilience and positive routines
– Working alongside social workers and external professional
– Maintaining accurate records and reports
– Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and incidents
– Supporting tenancy-related responsibilities and daily living tasks
Requirements
– Previous experience within support work, youth work or social care is preferred
– Understanding of the challenges faced by young people transitioning into independence
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to work in a person-centred and professional manner
– Knowledge of safeguarding practices and professional boundaries
– Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification is desirable but not essential
– Enhanced DBS check required or willingness to undertake one
