Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Companion Support Worker to assist children with additional needs. The role involves planning and delivering activities based on individual care packages, working collaboratively with families and multi-agency partners, and helping children build confidence, self-esteem, and social skills. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, excellent communication skills, and a caring attitude. Responsibilities

• Direct Support: Work with children/young people individually or in groups to improve wellbeing, resilience, confidence, and self-esteem.
• Relationship Building: Develop effective relationships with service users, their families, and colleagues.
• Risk & Safeguarding: Complete relevant risk assessments and follow safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults.
• Transition Support: Help children navigate developmental transitions using age-appropriate packages and tools like social stories.
• Activity Delivery: Accompany children to extracurricular activities (e.g., sports, day trips, cinema, clubs) and deliver creative/personal development activities.
• Environment Management: Prepare resources and maintain a safe, stimulating, inclusive environment at home or in community venues.
• Monitoring & Recording: Observe progress, update records, and share relevant information with the Team Leader, Registered Manager, and parents/carers.
• Medication: Assist with supervising/administering medications in line with policy.
• Communication: Work effectively with multi-agency partners, maintain good record-keeping, and report incidents as required.
• Compliance: Attend mandatory training, participate in supervision and performance reviews, and adhere to health & safety, infection control, and data protection policies.

Requirements

• Knowledge: Safeguarding children/vulnerable adults; understanding of SEND, autism, and behavioural/communication difficulties.
• Qualifications: GCSE English & Maths; willingness to pursue ongoing development (Level 2 Health & Social Care desirable).
• Experience: Working autonomously and in teams; safeguarding procedures; using manual handling equipment; building rapport with children and families.
• Skills: Active listening, time management, organisation, calm under pressure, positive attitude, flexibility (evenings/weekends/travel).

Pay: From £14.50 per hour
