Join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Croydon, dedicated to supporting every child to reach their full potential. We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) with SEN experience to provide tailored support to pupils and help foster a positive, nurturing learning environment.
About the Role
As an LSA with SEN experience, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with additional learning needs, including those with EHCPs. This role is ideal for someone patient, adaptable, and passionate about making a real difference in children’s lives. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils access the curriculum and develop both academically and socially.
Responsibilities:
• Provide dedicated 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, and speech & language needs
• Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
• Implement personalised learning plans and support strategies in line with EHCP targets
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation using appropriate techniques
• Support pupils with communication, social skills, and independence
• Prepare and adapt learning materials to meet diverse needs
• Monitor pupil progress and contribute to observations and reports
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
• Ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Requirements:
• Previous experience working with children with SEN (essential)
• Strong understanding of SEN needs such as ASD, ADHD, and SEMH
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (essential)
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (essential)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting children
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
• Good organisational skills and ability to use initiative
• Relevant qualifications in childcare, education, or SEN (desirable)
• Training in safeguarding, behaviour management, or Team Teach (preferred)
Working Conditions:
