About Our Holiday Programme

The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme in Newham provides engaging, enriching activities and nutritious meals for children and young people during the holidays. Our mission is to support the well-being and development of our community’s youth by offering a variety of activities in a safe and fun environment.

Job Overview

We recognise that there are a number of aspiring teachers and teaching assistants who are seeking some voluntary experience in a teaching environment. We’re offering the individual a safe working environment, with safeguarding training and first aid training, working with children from various age groups in a school environment.

The volunteers will get recognised work experience in a large holiday club setting along with a verified reference for future work. For those who excel in this role, there may be paid opportunities at our future programmes.

Key Responsibilities

I. Programme Assistants:

• Activity Supervision: Assist in supervising children during various activities, ensuring their safety and engagement.
• Lunch and Break Supervision: Oversee children during lunch and breaks, promoting a safe and inclusive environment.
• Support Staff: Assist Class Leads and other staff members with the preparation and execution of activities.
• Child Welfare: Monitor the well-being of children, providing support and guidance as needed.
• Administrative Duties: Help with registration, attendance tracking, and other administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications and Skills

• Communication: Good communication skills with the ability to interact positively with children, parents, and staff.
• Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and take direction when needed.
• Organisation: Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and execute activities effectively.
• Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and needs throughout the programme
• Passion: A genuine interest in supporting the well-being and development of children and young people.

Requirements

• Availability for the entire duration of the holiday programme.

Pay: £0.01 per hour
