Temporary Senior Financial Accountant (Charity Experience Essential) job at London Full Time NEW

Are you a technically strong Financial Accountant with extensive charity experience? Have you led on statutory accounts under SORP and dealt with complex charity structures? Are you confident rebuilding financial reporting from the ground up?

A well-known charity is seeking an Interim Senior Financial Accountant to join on a contract basis. This is a substantial technical assignment, supporting the organisation through a period of change and redevelopment of its financial reporting. The role is ideally offered on a 4-day-per-week basis, with openness to candidates seeking 5 days. This is a six to nine month contract.

Please note: prior charity experience is essential. Applications without this will not be considered.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Rebuilding statutory accounts and supporting schedules from the ground up
• Applying SORP requirements across a complex charity structure, including a trading subsidiary
• Supporting an external VAT review and advising on VAT treatment
• Reviewing and refining overhead allocations and cost structures
• Supporting reserves accounting and wider technical accounting requirements
• Delivering a range of ad hoc technical projects as required

The successful candidate will have:

• Essential: Extensive charity sector experience, including strong knowledge of SORP
• Proven experience producing statutory accounts within a charity environment
• Strong technical accounting expertise, including exposure to VAT within charities
• Experience working with organisations of similar scale and complexity
• The ability to work independently and build processes and outputs from first principles
• A proactive and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to manage a broad scope of work
