Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Tech Specialist to join our IT support team. The ideal candidate will provide expert technical assistance, troubleshooting, and support across a range of hardware and software platforms. This role involves delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining network integrity, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems within our organisation. The Tech Specialist will play a vital role in supporting both internal teams and external clients, ensuring optimal performance and security of all technological assets.

Duties

• Provide comprehensive technical support for computer hardware, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), and software applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to software (Microsoft Office, ServiceNow, Jira), hardware components, network connectivity (LAN, VPN, TCP/IP, DNS), firewalls, and security protocols.
• Manage and support Active Directory environments, including user account creation, permissions management, and group policy administration.
• Utilise tools such as SCCM and BMC Remedy for system management, deployment, and incident tracking.
• Maintain network infrastructure including LAN configurations, TCP/IP settings, DNS records, firewalls, and VPN connections to ensure secure and reliable connectivity.
• Assist with server administration tasks involving Microsoft Windows Server environments and analyse system logs for troubleshooting purposes.
• Support help desk operations by responding promptly to user requests via ServiceNow or Jira platforms.
• Conduct software troubleshooting to identify issues quickly and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with teams on system upgrades, patches, security enhancements, and hardware replacements.
• Document technical procedures clearly for future reference and knowledge sharing within the organisation.

Requirements

• Proven experience in computer networking including LAN/WAN configurations, TCP/IP protocols, DNS management, VPN setup, and firewall configuration.
• Strong background in desktop support across various operating systems such as Windows (including Windows Server), macOS, and Linux.
• Proficiency with Active Directory administration and familiarity with tools like SCCM for system deployment.
• Experience providing technical support in help desk environments with excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of software troubleshooting techniques for Microsoft Office applications and enterprise tools like ServiceNow or Jira.
• Familiarity with BMC Remedy or similar incident management platforms is desirable.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to non-technical users.
• Analytical skills to diagnose issues efficiently while maintaining a methodical approach to problem-solving.
