Student and Registry Services is one of the larger Professional Services divisions at UCL, providing essential services to UCL’s 50,000 students, 160,000 applicants and for supporting academic departments and administrative staff in delivering a high-quality student experience. UCL Student Support and Wellbeing Services (SSWS) provides information, advice and welfare support for all registered students, including delivery of related student events. The UCL Student Support and Wellbeing Team (Disability, Mental Health & Neurodiversity Support Services) is responsible for the delivery of advice and support aimed to enable students who identify as disabled to thrive and succeed at UCL. https://www.ucl.ac.uk/students/support-and-wellbeing
The Student Support and Wellbeing Manager (Mental Health and Wellbeing) provides leadership, management and effective operation of the mental health and wellbeing support provision for UCL students. They are responsible for managing a team of skilled professionals who deliver non-therapeutic support, provide advice and guidance to students and respond to students of concern within the UCL community. The role holder is responsible for the effective triaging of student of concern cases and ensuring service level agreements are adhered to. They will provide expert guidance and complete safeguarding referrals. They work closely with colleagues in Student Support and Wellbeing and across the UCL community to promote an understanding of inclusive practice, disability and wellbeing issues.

Applicants must have substantial knowledge of the Higher Education sector; in particular, of student services management and administration, both undergraduate and graduate and both UK and international. You will have expert knowledge and understanding of SFE and Research Councils and other funding bodies’ Disabled Student Allowance processes as well as a comprehensive knowledge of disability and equality legislation and will be able to demonstrate their commitment to keeping up to date with changes to such legislation.
Applicants must have excellent people management skills combined with excellent interpersonal skills and will be experienced in managing all aspects of the student/client relationship. You must also have both a full understanding of and the ability to demonstrate best practice in safeguarding.
