Job description
Our Safeguarding team provides high quality, professional services to support students who may be at risk of harm, exploitation or who are experiencing complex welfare issues, including students who have experienced, or are at risk of, Gender-Based Violence or hate incidents.
Currently, we are recruiting a full time Student Safeguarding Adviser to join the team to provide valuable advice, guidance and support to both staff and students on a range of complex safeguarding issues, to enable management and mitigation of risk.
The Role:
This is a challenging but highly rewarding role where your main focus will be on supporting students to manage their own risk through implementing practical interventions.
The post will give you the opportunity to use your experience and expertise in delivering services for survivors of sexual violence and hate incidents, to case manage students who may be at risk of harm, exploitation or who are experiencing complex welfare issues.
Your knowledge of the national and HEI landscape relating to gender-based violence and hate incidents will also serve you well as you make referrals to specialist services and undertake partnership work with both internal and external colleagues, including NHS services, Social Care Direct, Police Scotland and Third Sector organisations.
The post also has a strategic and capacity building element supporting the delivery of the University’s Joint Strategy Preventing and Tackling Gender Based Violence and Hate Incidents.
As such, you will be in an excellent position to develop your skills and knowledge through active engagement with external networks and participation in appropriate national events, in order to keep abreast of contemporary safeguarding issues, informing your practice and developing and refining processes within Edinburgh Napier.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a primary role in the implementation of the University’s Student Safeguarding Framework and to position yourself as an expert and leader in your field.
What we will need from you:
Salary: £37,694 – £46,049 p/a (depending on experience) + Pension (Employer contribution of 17.6%)
41 days (31 days flexible + 10 fixed) paid annual leave per annum
Further information about our benefits can be found here.
Additional information:
Interview date: Week commencing 01 June 2026
For further detail or an opportunity to discuss the role please email: [email protected]
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
On this occasion, the University will not consider applicants requiring sponsorship for this role. International workers will therefore only be able to take up this role if they can demonstrate an alternative right to work in the UK.
The University holds Disability Confident, Carer Positive and Stonewall Scotland Diversity Champion status. More details can be found here. We are a flexible Employer.
