Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Steel Fixer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and securing steel reinforcement bars in various building projects, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with safety standards. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, contributing to the realisation of high-quality construction works. The position requires a strong understanding of construction practices, excellent manual skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine placement of reinforcement bars.
• Measure, cut, bend, and shape steel reinforcement bars using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment as necessary.
• Secure steel bars in position using ties, clips, or welding techniques according to project requirements.
• Collaborate with other trades such as carpenters, masons, and roofers to ensure seamless workflow.
• Assist with the lifting and positioning of heavy steel components safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
• Conduct routine inspections of reinforcement work to ensure quality standards are met.
• Follow all safety protocols related to heavy lifting, working at heights, and handling power tools.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Steel Fixer or in a similar role within the construction industry.
• Proficiency in welding techniques and the use of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment.
• Strong mechanical knowledge related to reinforcement installation processes.
• Experience with carpentry, masonry, roofing, or heavy lifting is advantageous.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
• Valid certification in health & safety practices relevant to construction sites.
• Valid driving licence for commercial driving tasks is preferred but not essential.
• Physical fitness to perform heavy lifting and work at heights over extended periods.
