Shop Floor Assistant job at London Full Time

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Retail Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be the face of our store, assisting with the front-of-house operations, accurately booking in items, and ensuring the highest standards of quality control before garments are returned to customers. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for delivering a premium, reliable customer experience.

Duties

• Customer Service & Reception: Greet customers warmly, accept garments for processing, and manage enquiries in person or over the phone with professionalism and courtesy.
• Order Intake & POS Management: Inspect garments at the counter, accurately log items into the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, note any pre-existing damage or specific customer requests, and process cash or card payments.
• Quality Control (QC): Inspect completed garments returning from the processing unit to ensure they meet our high cleanliness and pressing standards before they are bagged and racked.
• Order Assembly & Racking: Organise and rack finished orders systematically by ticket number or alphabet to ensure quick and efficient retrieval when customers arrive.
• Store Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming front-of-house environment, ensuring health and safety guidelines are followed at all times.

Skills

• Communication & Language: Fluency in English; proficiency in languages is advantageous for assisting our diverse customer base.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy required for inspecting garments for stains/defects during check-in and performing final quality control checks.
• Technical & Math Skills: Comfortable using POS systems and digital booking software, with basic maths skills for accurately handling transactions.
• Organisation & Time Management: Strong ability to multi-task, prioritise duties during busy periods, and keep the racking system meticulously organised.
• Garment Knowledge (Advantageous): A basic understanding of fabric types, care labels, and clothing construction is a plus, though full training will be provided.
• Professional Etiquette: Friendly phone and counter manners, with the ability to handle customer enquiries or concerns calmly and tactfully.

Note to Candidates: This is a front-of-house customer service and quality control role. You will not be responsible for the physical washing, dry cleaning, or pressing of the garments, as this is handled by our production team/unit.

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
