Senior Housing Communications Officer job at London Full Time

We are currently looking for an experienced and proactive Housing Communications Officer to join Brent Council on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of housing-related communications, supporting the organisation’s Housing Improvement Board and driving improvements in tenant engagement, satisfaction, and trust. You will work closely with housing teams and key stakeholders to deliver clear, consistent, and insight-led communications to tenants and leaseholders.

Key Details:

Contract: Fixed-term (12 months)

Rate: £250 – £300 per day

Location: London, HA9

Working hours: Monday – Friday, standard office hours

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the delivery of high-quality housing communications to tenants and leaseholders
• Support communications linked to the Housing Improvement Board
• Create clear, engaging, and timely multi-channel content (digital, print, and multimedia)
• Coordinate flagship communications including newsletters, publications, and reports
• Review and improve service-led communications such as webpages and resident letters
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to align communications activity
• Provide expert communications advice to housing teams
• Develop creative content, including case studies, videos, and photography
• Measure and report on communications performance using insights and KPIs
• Brief designers and ensure brand and tone of voice consistency
• Ensure communications comply with relevant legislation and council standards

Qualifications:

• Degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Experience & Knowledge:

• Proven experience in communications, ideally within a local authority or housing environment
• Strong experience in tenant communications and engagement
• Experience delivering multi-channel campaigns and content
• Ability to use insight and data to improve communications effectiveness
• Understanding of governance and compliance in public sector communications
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders in a complex organisation
