About The Role
Operative – Derby
Job Summary
The Operative carries out a range of essential manual and practical tasks within a production, manufacturing, warehouse, or site environment in Derby. This role ensures processes run smoothly and efficiently, maintains work areas to a high standard, and follows all safety and quality guidelines.
Key Duties
- Operate machinery, tools, or equipment safely and efficiently as directed
- Assemble, pack, load, and move materials, goods, or products within the workspace
- Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks accurately
- Inspect products, components, or materials for quality, and report any issues
- Clean and maintain work areas, including removing waste and organising supplies
- Monitor stock levels of raw materials or finished products and inform supervisors when running low
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations at all times
- Meet production, processing, or service targets within timeframes
- Help receive, unload, and store deliveries as required
- Work as part of a team to achieve department or company goals
- Complete basic documentation, such as checklists or logs, as needed
- Communicate any observed hazards, defects, or incidents to the relevant person
- Take part in required training and contribute to continuous improvement
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Good level of physical fitness to carry out manual work
- Ability to follow straightforward instructions and procedures
- Awareness of, and commitment to, health and safety practices
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work consistently to required standards
- Keen attention to detail in carrying out tasks
- Ability to work well in a team and communicate clearly
- Basic reading and writing skills to understand guidelines and complete documentation
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing tasks
- Previous experience in a similar setting, such as a warehouse, factory, or construction site, is beneficial but not essential
- Flexible approach to working hours, including possible shift patterns
