Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our growing forklift sales, hire, and service business. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate financial reporting, maintaining financial controls, managing cash flow, and supporting the wider business with financial analysis and insights.

This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional looking for a flexible part-time position within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Management Reporting

• Prepare and produce monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Analyse financial performance and provide commentary on key variances.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Monitor departmental costs and profitability.

Fixed Asset Management

• Maintain and reconcile the company’s fixed asset register.
• Record additions, disposals, and depreciation accurately.
• Ensure all company assets are appropriately tracked and accounted for.

Cash Flow Management

• Prepare and maintain short and long-term cash flow forecasts.
• Monitor cash balances and identify potential cash flow risks.
• Assist in managing working capital, including debtor and creditor balances.

Financial Control

• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and financial procedures.
• Support external accountants and auditors as required.

General Responsibilities

• Support payroll and pension administration when required.
• Assist with VAT returns and statutory reporting.
• Review and improve financial processes and controls.
• Undertake other accounting and administrative duties as required by the business.

Skills and Experience

Essential

• Previous experience in a Management Accountant or similar finance role.
• Strong knowledge of management accounting principles.
• Excellent Excel and financial reporting skills.
• Experience maintaining fixed asset registers and cash flow forecasting.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
