What the role involves
The finance team at Alternative Airlines are looking for a talented and driven Management Accountant to join our finance team at a pivotal time of growth and innovation. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified accountant who not only thrives in a fast paced, commercial environment, but also enjoys contributing to the development of future talent—specifically, working closely with our fantastic finance apprentice who is working towards her ACCA qualification. This is a maternity cover role for 12 months, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a collaborative and ambitious team.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, your responsibilities include but not limited to:
Prepare monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
Responsibly for all overheads in the business
Balance Sheet Reconciliations including resolving old balances
Business Partnering activities including to understand business performance and identify efficiencies.
Assisting in providing insights to budget holders and senior management. Assisting with external audit process and production of financial statements Assisting with VAT and Corporation tax returns
Assisting monitor cash flow, prepare rolling forecasts, and support cash management strategies
Assisting our finance apprentice when needed
Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes, systems, and reporting quality. Assisting others members of the finance team where workload requires it
Essential skills:
Proven experience in a management accounting or financial analyst role. Qualified, Part-Qualified or finalist in ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficiency with Excel and experience using ERP/accounting systems including vlookups, sumifs, pivot tables etc.
Strong experience dealing with high volume of data and reconciliation skills High level of accuracy and attention of detail.
Ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial colleagues.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Highly motivated and passionate individual who is always looking for efficiency and improvements
Desirables skills:
Work experience in the travel industry
Implementing process improvements
Strong experience in multi-currency environment
