The Vision
We are a high-end custom jewelry manufacturing hub specializing in luxury grillz and aftermarket watch customization. We are building a proprietary, fully automated “lights-out” production pipeline. Your mission is to replace manual digital sculpting with an AI-driven computational geometry pipeline. You will build a system that automatically ingests raw 3D intraoral scans, isolates the target teeth, generates a parametric offset, and executes a flawless Boolean subtraction to create a ready-to-print, perfect-fit CAD model.
The Core Challenge
The hardest part of this project is not the AI vision—it is the math. The software must automatically account for the “Path of Insertion” and digitally block out dental undercuts before performing the Boolean subtraction. If the geometry is wrong, the cast gold will not physically snap onto the client’s teeth. We need an engineer who understands both 3D deep learning and hard computational geometry.
Key Responsibilities
3D Mesh Segmentation: Train and deploy geometric deep learning models to automatically segment raw, noisy 3D point clouds and meshes (intraoral scans) to identify the gumline, individual teeth, and undercuts. Procedural Geometry Generation: Build algorithms to parametrically generate an external shell (e.g., 0.6mm thickness) over the segmented target area. Automated Boolean Operations: Develop a highly reliable computational pipeline to subtract the exact volume of the patient’s teeth from the generated shell to create a watertight, 3D-printable cavity. Mesh Remediation: Architect automated systems to detect and correct common mesh failures (non-manifold edges, inverted normals, holes) to ensure the final STL/PLY file is ready for direct-to-metal 3D printing or 5-axis CNC milling.
Technical Requirements
Strong Programming: Expert proficiency in Python and C++. Geometric Deep Learning: Experience training neural networks on 3D data (point clouds, meshes, B-Rep models). 3D Libraries: Extensive hands-on experience with Open3D, PyTorch3D, Trimesh, CGAL, or VTK. Math & Spatial Transforms: Deep understanding of Euclidean geometry, spatial alignments, and solving complex Boolean operations on unstructured 3D meshes. Bonus / Ideal
Experience:
Previous work in digital dentistry (e.g., exocad, 3Shape), orthodontics automation (clear aligners), or medical imaging reconstruction. What You Get The opportunity to build industry-disruptive tech in the luxury jewelry and digital manufacturing space. Direct access to a massive proprietary dataset of raw 3D dental scans paired with finalized, perfectly fitting CAD geometries.
Flexible schedule and highly competitive compensation for the right expert who can deliver a working prototype.
