Main Purpose of Job
To ensure that Radcliffe Chambers runs smoothly, through providing a first-rate administrative/practical support service to assist our busy CEO and clerking team.
This is a wide-ranging role which will play an important part in supporting Chambers’ barristers and its clients.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting the CEO, Practice Managers, the wider Practice Management Team, and the Office Manager with the day-to-day running of Chambers. Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
· Providing day-to-day administrative support to the CEO, including managing schedules, communications, phone calls, and emails.
· Complex diary management
· Undertaking large-scale printing and collation of court papers, bundles of authorities, and other documents for hearings.
· Collect DX promptly each day.
· Answering incoming calls, transferring calls to barristers, and dealing with any enquiries in a professional manner.
· Updating cases information and diary entries on LEX.
· Updating and recording incoming paperwork on LEX.
· Carry out general administrative tasks, including handling post, DX, and couriers.
· Taking papers to court for hearings and trials.
· Lodging arguments, orders, and other official documents with the courts.
· Delivering papers, briefs, and other documents to barristers.
· Collecting outgoing papers for return to clients or confidential destruction.
· Printing, photocopying, and carrying out other ad hoc duties as required.
· Undertaking reception duties on specified days, including greeting visitors, answering and directing telephone calls, taking messages, managing incoming and outgoing post and deliveries, booking meeting rooms, preparing refreshments for meetings where required, and ensuring the reception area remains tidy, professional, and welcoming.
· Assisting with general housekeeping duties around Chambers.
· Dealing with travel queries.
· Managing general miscellaneous diary bookings.
· Liaising with solicitors.
Person Specification
Education/Qualification
A minimum of 5 GCSE’s, including Maths and English
Required Qualities, Knowledge, and Skill Set
· This is an exciting opportunity that will suite an enthusiastic school or university leaver who is looking to build their experience in a professional office environment working as part of a dedicated and successful team.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including a confident telephone manner)
· Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
· Ability to undertake a substantial amount of manual handling and physical tasks.
· Strong interpersonal skills.
· Self-motivated, with the ability to use initiative, work under pressure, and adapt to changing demands within a busy team.
· Practical experience of printing, photocopying, and other general office tasks.
· Some understanding of barristers’ chambers or the legal environment would be helpful, though not essential.
Pay: £30,786.00 per year
