IT Systems Engineer

A varied, hands-on technical role — no people management, just keeping great technology running.

Overall Job Purpose: To ensure the smooth and effective day-to-day running of the organisation’s IT environment, maintaining and supporting infrastructure, and managing relationships with third-party technology provider.

Are you a capable, hands-on IT Engineer who thrives when you’re solving real problems across a variety of systems and technologies? We’re a growing business with 50–60 users across multiple sites and a broad technology stack — and we need one reliable person to own the day-to-day running of our IT environment.

Key Duties and Job Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

End-user support

· Be the first point of contact for IT issues across the business

· Resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems efficiently

· Manage onboarding and offboarding — accounts, devices, access

· Maintain hardware and software asset lifecycle

Infrastructure & systems

· Maintain and improve our Unifi network infrastructure across Fenstanton, Glasgow, Armagh, and Paderborn

· Administer our Microsoft environment: Azure, AVD, Azure AD, Intune, SharePoint, Windows Server (DNS, DHCP, AD)

· Ensure day-to-day reliability and availability of systems used across the business

· Monitor, maintain, and document our IT environment

· Manage security best practices and help improve our Microsoft Secure Score

· Look after key platforms including Unifi CCTV, Connect365, and Yodeck

Vendor & third-party management

· Be the primary internal liaison for our managed service providers, including those supporting SAP Business One, our WMS (Koerber), and SQL database administration

· Manage vendor relationships day-to-day — raising issues, tracking resolutions, and ensuring delivery

· Coordinate third-party support alongside internal troubleshooting so issues get resolved efficiently

Projects & improvement

· Support and deliver light project work as the business evolves — new sites, system changes, tooling upgrades

· Identify opportunities to streamline and improve how technology supports the business

· Keep documentation up to date so nothing lives only in one person’s head

Key Attributes:

· Demonstrates broad, hands-on experience supporting IT environments, including end users, infrastructure, and systems

· Good networking fundamentals (experience with Unifi a bonus)

· Self-motivated and comfortable taking full ownership of IT operations

· Strong communicator able to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders and build effective relationships

· Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities

· Self-motivator with a desire to succeed

· Maintains a positive attitude to continued learning and professional development
