A well-established and growing Lloyd’s Insurance Broker is seeking to appoint a Head of Claims to lead and develop its claims function, with a particular emphasis on Marine Cargo business.
The firm operates across a range of specialty and international lines, supporting clients with complex risk placements, and is known for its strong client service ethos within the London Market.
Your new role
This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the full life cycle of claims handling, from initial notification through to final resolution, with a core focus on Marine Cargo claims.
You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing guidance on claims strategy, coverage interpretation and settlement approach, particularly across complex international cargo losses, while ensuring claims are progressed efficiently and in line with expectations.
The role will involve close engagement with Lloyd’s syndicates, insurers, loss adjusters and other market partners, alongside direct involvement in the handling and negotiation of complex and high-value Marine Cargo claims. You will ensure clients receive clear communication, timely updates and a consistently high standard of service throughout the claims process.
Alongside the technical aspects, you will lead and manage a team, ensuring work is allocated effectively, standards are maintained and individuals are supported in their development. The position will also involve reviewing and enhancing internal processes, driving operational efficiency, and maintaining robust governance and compliance standards.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will bring significant experience within a Lloyd’s broking environment, with a strong technical background in Marine Cargo claims. Experience handling and overseeing complex, international cargo claims is essential.
A track record of managing high-value or contentious claims, coupled with the ability to act as a senior referral point, is key.
Previous team leadership experience is required, alongside the ability to manage workloads in a fast-paced environment and build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
You will be comfortable operating at both a strategic and operational level, with the ability to influence outcomes across the full claims life cycle.A strong understanding of Lloyd’s Market practices and regulatory requirements is expected, and professional qualifications (such as ACII) would be advantageous.
