About the role

We are seeking to recruit a new Head of IT Product Development and Delivery (ITPDD) within our central IT function, Technology and Information Services (TIS). As part of the Senior Leadership team within TIS, you will lead a function responsible for a range of IT services to the University, its staff, students and partners. TIS aims to deliver IT that works exceptionally well, increases digital capabilities for staff and students, and provides a seamless end-to-end digital experience for all our stakeholders.

As Head of ITPDD you will:

• Provide technical leadership and have oversight of our Infrastructure Services Team, Solution Design Team, Technical Design Authority, and Continuous DevOps Team, utilising contemporary software techniques and ITIL/Agile methodologies to drive continuous improvement in digital capabilities across the University.
• Work with colleagues across TIS to ensure that appropriate, structured processes are in place and that current and new IT services are effective and efficient
• Work with others across the University to ensure the services delivered remain fit for purpose and meet changing business needs
• Bring in knowledge from across the sector and industry to ensure the University continues to develop, and deliver a high quality digital experience in line with strategic aims and business plans.
• Have experience across the full IT spectrum, ideally working in a medium size enterprise, have experience working in a medium size enterprise, as well as a relevant professional qualification in an IT related discipline.

You should be a practitioner in ITIL version 3, PRINCE2 and/or Agile with demonstrable practical experience of managing teams within these environments.

For this role, you will need to be on site 2 days a week. Although we can accommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs.

A strong understanding of the business processes that underpin an organisation focusing on the role of information provision will be required, along with a good knowledge of contemporary software industry techniques and trends. You will have an expert knowledge of business systems and operational processes across all platform environments.
