Job Overview
This role is suitable for tutors with a strong academic background, excellent reasoning and communication skills, and the ability to guide students to think clearly, organise ideas, and express themselves with confidence.

This is not a general conversational ESL role. We are looking for tutors who can support students in developing Academic English through structured discussion, critical thinking, writing, speaking, and guided academic communication.

Lessons will be delivered online to individual students or small groups, depending on student demand and tutor suitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging online Academic English lessons to students aged 7–18
• Guide students in structured speaking, writing, discussion, and academic communication
• Support students in developing critical thinking, reasoning, and clear expression
• Prepare for assigned lessons using provided programme materials where applicable
• Set, review, correct, and provide feedback on homework as part of the course programme
• Provide lesson feedback and contribute to student progress tracking
• Communicate with the team about students’ learning progress, engagement, and learning needs
• Take part in paid pilot activities where required, including training, mock lessons, lesson review, homework design practice, and feedback writing practice

We Are Especially Interested in Tutors With

• 3+ years’ experience teaching Academic English
• A recognised teaching qualification such as CELTA, DELTA, Trinity CertTESOL/DipTESOL, PGCE, or equivalent
• A strong academic background, ideally at postgraduate level or equivalent
• Experience teaching international students, especially Chinese-speaking learners
• The ability to guide discussion, critical thinking, and structured student output
• C2-level English or equivalent professional proficiency

Experience in debate, mooting, mock trial, public speaking, MUN, curriculum development, or project-based learning would be a strong advantage.

Availability

We are particularly interested in tutors with Friday to Sunday availability, especially between:

8:00 am – 2:00 pm UK time

Due to time-zone differences, UK morning and early afternoon availability is important for many of our students.We also welcome tutors with selected weekday morning availability or availability outside these hours, depending on student demand.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to:

• Attend an initial online interview, including a short 10–15 minute micro-teaching task
• Join a paid pilot period involving training, mock lessons, lesson delivery, feedback writing, homework design practice, and lesson review
• Be considered for regular freelance teaching opportunities during Summer 2026 and beyond, subject to successful pilot collaboration

Pay

Freelance rates will be discussed according to experience, lesson type, and group size.

Typical summer group class rates:

• 1–2 students: £30 per 60-minute online session
• 3–4 students: £40 per 60-minute online session

Rates include a teaching fee plus a paid course follow-up allowance for work outside the live lesson, including lesson preparation, lesson feedback, homework setting, homework review, correction, and feedback required as part of the course programme.

Pay: £25.00-£40.00 per hour
