BEST 4 Learning
BEST Club Instructor
BEST Instructors are enthusiastic, energetic and innovative with a keen interest in the development of children’s mental health and wellbeing.
About BEST
BESTis a unique company that specialises in teaching children of all ages the skills needed to thrive in today’s world.
BEST Clubs are designed for primary aged children Y1 – Y6, before and after school.
BEST endeavours to motivate children to grow into strong and confident young adults, by teaching social and emotional life skills – building confidence and resilience, understanding behaviours and learning to manage their emotions and overcoming fears and anxieties – taught through interactive activities in sport, art and drama.
BEST clubs, workshops and courses are designed around the development of a child’s brain. Understanding how each unique part creates our thoughts, feelings and actions, subsequently becomes the focal point of all programmes.
The Role of a BEST Instructor
Working in schools within the West London area, instructors are trained to run the BEST Social & Emotional programmes, through before and after school clubs.
Our programmes are designed to teach children how their brains work and therefore how their feelings affect their actions and behaviour. An instructor will need to have the enthusiasm to learn new information and the skills to deliver the programme in an exciting and fun learning environment, whilst having the ability to think on their feet and outside of the box.
The programmes are taught through interactive games, art activities, group discussion and drama.
Responsibilities of a BEST Instructor
Each programme is run by a team of two instructors at each designated school. These instructors will be working with groups of up to 26 children, aged between 5 and 11 years. Their responsibilities in a typical session include –
· Setting up the club, ensuring that all resources and activities are prepared and ready.
· Collecting the children from classes and keeping a register.
· Running the games – mixing children into teams of different abilities, focusing on good teamwork and sportsmanship, whilst creating a fun environment of learning.
· Delivering the weekly discussion provided in the term’s programme, whilst promoting good listening and positive behaviour.
· Creating exciting art activities, as provided, to enable a kinaesthetic approach to further the learning experience.
· Clearing away the session and keeping equipment and resources tidy.
· Communicating with BEST regarding concerns they may have with children / parents / safeguarding etc.
· Promoting the company with a strong and positive attitude. Supporting the company’s values and mission by becoming a dedicated member of the team.
