I’m working with a leading London practice that is seeking a talented costs professional to join its established team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong experience in family legal aid costs who enjoys managing complex work and wants to be part of a collaborative, supportive environment.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing a varied caseload of legal aid and private costs matters, including:
- Preparing and submitting fixed fee, exceptional, and high-cost legal aid bills.
- Managing CCMS billing and ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements.
- Drafting interim, final, and inter partes bills of costs.
- Negotiating costs and maximising cost recovery.
- Liaising with fee earners, counsel, clients, and third parties.
- Supporting colleagues with technical guidance and best practice.
About You
You’ll ideally have:
- 2+ years’ experience as a Costs Lawyer.
- Strong knowledge of family legal aid costs.
- Experience using CCMS and CostsMaster.
- A thorough understanding of LAA guidance and Civil Procedure Rules relating to costs.
- Experience handling high-cost cases and inter partes bills.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and negotiation skills.
