The Urgent Care Centre offers a warm and supportive environment, with excellent opportunities to develop and enhance your skills and knowledge within a fast-paced mental health service.
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work under the guidance of a qualified nurse to assist in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. You will be expected to demonstrate awareness of relevant local and national policies and legislation that govern current service provision.
The role also involves supporting the development and delivery of social and therapeutic activities for service users, promoting effective therapeutic relationships, and ensuring care is delivered in a way that respects spirituality, equality, and diversity, in line with good practice and legislation.
You will play an important role in maintaining effective communication pathways, acting as a role model to junior staff within your area of responsibility. The post holder is expected to contribute positively to a culture that promotes recovery-focused mental health care.
This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate individual who is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care within an Urgent Care setting.
The Urgent Care Centre provides an intensive and flexible team‑based approach to supporting individuals with complex, severe and enduring mental health conditions. Working within the Psychiatric Decision Unit, the post holder will contribute to person‑centred, recovery‑focused care in a challenging and rewarding environment.
The service supports individuals detained under Sections 135 and 136 of the Mental Health Act for further assessment. Following assessment, the team will support appropriate discharge planning, including admission to inpatient psychiatric services where required.
The post holder will support the Senior Urgent Care Nurse (Bed Manager) in sourcing suitable psychiatric beds including liaising with contracted bed providers.
This is a 24/7, 365‑day service, and the successful applicant must be able to work days, nights and unsocial hours.
The post holder will receive regular management supervision, access to monthly clinical supervision, and participate in team meetings.
A positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and a commitment to the Trust values of compassion, inclusivity and commitment are essential to delivering a high‑quality service.
