About the Role

We are looking to hire a capable, reliable and professionally qualified In-House Accountant to join our London-based financial services group.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious accountant with a strong technical foundation and professional experience to step into a broad, hands-on finance role within a dynamic group environment. The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day accounting, financial records, filings, reporting and core finance processes across the group’s business activities. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who is organised, detail-oriented, trustworthy and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with senior management of a regulated firm.

You will be expected to manage deadlines independently, maintain high-quality financial records, support reporting and compliance processes, and contribute to the continued improvement of the group’s finance function.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing day-to-day accounting records, bookkeeping and finance administration across the group’s business activities.
• Preparing and maintaining accurate financial records for the company.
• Supporting monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts.
• Assisting with statutory accounts preparation and related company filings.
• Managing invoices, payments, expenses and reconciliations.
• Liaising professionally with external accountants, auditors, tax advisers, banks and other professional service providers where required.
• Supporting VAT, corporation tax and other relevant compliance processes, where applicable.
• Maintaining organised accounting records and ensure appropriate supporting documentation is available and up to date.
• Ensuring internal finance processes are followed accurately and on time.
• Assisting senior management with financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow tracking and ad hoc financial analysis.
• Supporting regulatory, compliance and operational reporting requirements relevant to a regulated financial services firm.
• Taking ownership of finance-related deadlines, filings and internal processes.
• Identifying opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, internal controls and reporting efficiency.

Candidate Requirements

• A degree strictly in accountancy or accounting.
• A recognised professional accountancy qualification, or be actively working towards one, such as ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent.
• Professional experience in an accountancy, finance or bookkeeping role.
• Strong understanding of core accounting principles, financial records, reconciliations, management accounts and statutory filings.
• Experience preparing or assisting with management accounts, invoices, expenses, reconciliations, accounting schedules and financial records.
• Good working knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of finance and accounts-related processes from start to finish.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and professional environment.
• Confidence working directly with senior management and handling confidential information.
• Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• A reliable, discreet and responsible approach to work.

Mandatory Eligibility Note

Candidates must hold a degree specifically in accountancy or accounting, and must either hold or be actively working towards a professional accountancy qualification. Applicants who do not meet these mandatory requirements will not be considered for this role.

Preferred Experience

• Experience within financial services, investment management, asset management, private equity, family office, accounting practice or another regulated/professional services environment.
• Familiarity with UK company accounts, Companies House filings, VAT and corporation tax processes.
• Knowledge of LLP structures and related accounting, filing or tax considerations would be highly valued.
• Understanding of basic regulatory or compliance expectations within a financial services firm.
• Experience dealing with external auditors, accountants, tax advisers, banks or administrators.
• Strong Excel skills, including reconciliations, formulas, financial schedules and reporting templates.
• Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar.
