Overview
Brainology is seeking a highly skilled, energetic, and engaging 11 Plus Tutor to prepare Year 4 and Year 5 students for the grammar school entrance exam. This is a Saturday-only role based at Ark Victoria Academy. All resources are provided – no planning required. Your sole focus will be delivering high-quality, fun, and effective tuition across all four 11 Plus subjects.
Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-planned, ready-made lessons to small groups or individuals in English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning (VR), and Non-Verbal Reasoning (NVR).
- Make learning fun, interactive, and engaging to keep Year 4 and Year 5 students motivated throughout Saturday sessions.
- Teach to a very high standard, ensuring students build both skills and confidence ahead of the 11 Plus exam.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging classroom environment that promotes active participation.
- Manage behaviour effectively and keep children focused during the 10am – 2:30pm teaching day.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching or tutoring all four 11 Plus subjects: English, maths, VR, and NVR.
- Proven track record of teaching to a high standard with strong student outcomes.
- Ability to engage children and create a genuinely enjoyable learning experience.
- Excellent communication and rapport-building skills with primary-aged students (Years 4 & 5).
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to Saturdays during term time.
- Must have an enhanced DBS check (on the Update Service or willing to obtain one).
- Must hold Safeguarding Level 1 certification (minimum) – Level 2 or above desirable.
