The Pensions Capital Vice President is a key member of the Pensions Capital Management Centre of Excellence within the Capital and Leverage Management team, responsible for analysing and managing the capital implications of Barclays Group’s pension obligations across both UK and international regulated entities. The role supports the effective capitalisation of the Group by assessing financial and actuarial risks associated with defined benefit pension schemes, contributing to the development of financial assumptions, and performing advanced risk modelling including stress testing and VaR calculations for ICAAP. The individual will play an active role in supporting trustee consultations, triennial valuations of the UK Retirement Fund, and ongoing engagement with internal and external stakeholders such as actuaries, investment managers, and auditors. In addition, the VP will help drive pensions-related projects and initiatives, while maintaining robust governance across pension risk models, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, controls, and internal policies.

Purpose of the role
To optimise the bank’s capital structure to support its growth objectives, manage risk exposure, and comply with regulatory requirements by analysis of bank’s capital position, development of capital allocation strategies, and ensuring that the bank maintains adequate capital levels under various economic scenarios.
