Dog Daycare Assistant — The Paw Pack, Benton

Rare opportunity to join our team at The Paw Pack.

This is a brilliant job for the right person, but it is not just playing with dogs all day.

The role is physical, outdoorsy, muddy, noisy, rewarding, and full-on. You’ll be working with groups of dogs in a busy daycare environment, helping keep them safe, settled, enriched, and well cared for throughout the day.

We’re looking for someone calm, reliable, kind and switched on — someone who genuinely wants to work in animal care and understands that good dog care is about patience, awareness, routine, cleaning, communication and teamwork.

We have part-time and full-time hours available for the right candidate. Working hours may vary depending on bookings, but shifts take place on weekdays between 7:40am and 6:00pm.

About the role

As a Dog Daycare Assistant, you’ll be part of a small, friendly team caring for a variety of dogs at our daycare centre in Benton.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

• Supervising dogs in daycare and helping ensure their safety and wellbeing
• Monitoring behaviour, body language and group dynamics
• Helping keep the daycare calm, structured and safe
• Providing enrichment, play and mental stimulation
• Carrying out daily cleaning, disinfecting and general maintenance tasks
• Cleaning up after dogs and disposing of waste properly
• Assisting the team with daily client updates
• Passing on useful observations about the dogs to senior team members
• Supporting the team during pick-up and drop-off times
• Following specific care instructions provided by dog owners
• Following instructions from supervisors and managers to help keep the daycare safe, calm and organised
• Monitoring dogs for signs of illness, injury or changes in behaviour
• Working closely with the rest of the team to keep the day running smoothly

What we’re looking for

Previous experience in animal care, dog handling, kennels, daycare, dog walking or a similar environment is preferred, but the right attitude is just as important.

You’ll need to be:

• Calm and confident around dogs of different sizes and temperaments
• Reliable and punctual
• Physically fit
• Patient, kind and observant
• Comfortable with routine, responsibility and cleaning
• Happy working outside in rain, mud, wind and everything in between
• A good communicator who can pass on important information clearly to the team
• Comfortable following guidance from supervisors and managers
• Positive, practical and able to stay level-headed during busy days

Basic knowledge of dog behaviour, animal first aid or veterinary care would be a bonus, but full training will be given.
