Business Development Manager – Scotland
£38,000 basic + uncapped commission (OTE circa £50,000)
Company Vehicle, Laptop & Mobile
Full-time, Monday–Friday (9:00am–5:30pm)
A company you may not have heard of… but one that has transformed spaces all over the world.
Blachere Illumination is one of the global leaders in festive and decorative lighting. While our name may not always be widely recognised, our work is.
We design, manufacture and install lighting displays that bring towns, cities and commercial destinations to life—helping to drive footfall, increase dwell time and create memorable experiences.
From major city centres to retail parks and shopping destinations, our projects can be found across the UK and internationally.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing region, supporting and working alongside a Senior Business Development Manager to further develop a well-established and successful area covering Scotland.
The Role
This is not a standard sales role. It combines business development, creativity and project ownership.
You will play a key part in growing the region, developing new opportunities while managing and expanding existing client relationships. You will be hands-on in the full process, from initial contact and site visits through to design, sale and installation.
The role covers a large and varied territory, from Mid Wales through to Cornwall, so a willingness to travel and manage your own time effectively is essential.
What You Will Be Doing
Supporting the Senior Business Development Manager in developing your region
Generating new business through phone, email and LinkedIn outreach
Building relationships with councils, BIDs, retail centres and commercial clients
Attending client meetings and gathering detailed project requirements
Managing the full sales cycle from initial enquiry through to order
Conducting site surveys to understand technical and creative requirements
Working closely with the design team to develop bespoke proposals
Identifying upselling opportunities within existing accounts
Acting as the main point of contact throughout project delivery and installation
Liaising with installation teams to ensure smooth delivery of projects
Managing your sales pipeline to achieve monthly and annual targets
Supporting project coordination, including installations and removals
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with energy, ambition and a proactive approach.
You will be confident in generating new business, comfortable speaking to clients at all levels, and capable of building long-term relationships.
You should be equally comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team.
Requirements:
Previous experience in B2B sales
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Self-motivated with the ability to manage your own workload and diary
Comfortable working remotely and travelling extensively
Experience using CRM systems and managing a sales pipeline
Full UK driving licence (required)
Experience within lighting, events, retail, property or commercial environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
What We Offer
£38,000 basic salary with uncapped commission (OTE circa £50,000+, with additional earning potential)
Company vehicle, laptop and mobile phone
The opportunity to work for a global market leader with a highly creative product range
A role where your work has a visible and lasting impact on public spaces
Career development within an established and growing international business
Important Information
This is a field-based role covering a large geographical area.
Travel is a key part of the position
During peak season (October to December), holidays are not permitted and occasional weekend work may be required to support client events
Why This Role Stands Out
Most sales roles focus purely on selling.
This role allows you to create something tangible. The projects you win will be seen and experienced by thousands of people in towns and cities across your region.
You will be contributing to how places look, feel and perform—supporting local economies and creating environments people want to visit.
For the right person, this is a unique opportunity to combine creativity, business development and real-world impact.
