Day Opportunities Mentor job at Bridgend Full Time NEW

37 hours per week

Fixed Term for 12 months

This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and motivated mentor to be part of a new pilot project supporting adults with a learning disability to get ready for their next steps in life. You will be part of a service that promotes peoples independence, supporting individuals to develop new skills, achieve their goals and move into other meaningful activities such as work, volunteering, learning and community life.

Based in one of our day services in either Pyle, Sarn or Maesteg, you will work alongside individuals and their support networks to identify their interests, strengths and aspirations. You will support individuals to set realistic, meaningful, and achievable goals which will enable them to move towards a timetable of meaningful activities. Your time will be spent providing one to one and group support in our day centres and the community, providing support, advice and motivation to explore new opportunities.

You will deliver preparation for work/life skills/independent living skills programmes. This will cover areas such as communication, relationships, travel, timekeeping, confidence building and safety.

Occasional evening and weekend working may be required

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

An Enhanced with Adults Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.

A valid driving licence is requirement for this post.
