Qualified Accountant / Accounts Manager

Sterling Ventures UK Ltd is a growing wholesale import, distribution, and cash & carry business operating across the UK food service, retail, and wholesale sectors. Our group includes expanding brands and divisions such as HoReCaGold Wholesale and CaterGold.

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Accounts professional with a minimum of 4 years’ hands-on experience to join our finance team in Birmingham.

Key Responsibilities

• Day-to-day bookkeeping using Xero
• Handling multi-currency transactions and reconciliations
• Preparing monthly management accounts
• Preparing company accounts and financial reports
• Sales forecasting and purchase forecasting
• VAT return preparation and filing
• Credit control and debtor management
• Bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring
• Supplier payment management
• Monitoring customer accounts, overdue balances, and payment follow-ups
• Assisting with budgeting and financial planning
• Supporting import-related accounting and supplier documentation
• Liaising with banks, HMRC, auditors, and external accountants where required

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 4 years’ accounting experience in the UK
• Strong working knowledge of Xero
• Experience handling multi-currency accounts and international supplier transactions
• Good understanding of VAT regulations and UK accounting standards
• Strong Excel and reporting skills
• Experience in wholesale, distribution, import/export, or stock-based businesses preferred
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), or Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ACA) qualified or part-qualified
• Experience with stock control or warehouse management systems would be advantageous

Salary

£35,000 – £45,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)

Salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, industry background, technical knowledge, and professional qualifications. Candidates who are fully qualified ACCA, CIMA, or ACA with 6–7 years of relevant industry experience, particularly within wholesale, distribution, import/export, or stock-based businesses, will be considered for the higher end of the salary bracket.
