We are seeking a Progress and Destination Tutor to join our team. In this role you will work closely with curriculum and teaching staff to provide effective academic and pastoral support to students, helping them to stay engaged, make progress, and successfully complete their programmes. The post holder is responsible for delivering weekly personal development sessions on a range of agreed topics, adapting resources and facilitating discussions to meet the needs of different learner groups and subject areas. The role also includes managing a caseload of students, monitoring attendance and progress, identifying those at risk of underachievement, and providing targeted support and guidance to help them achieve their full potential. By promoting student wellbeing, engagement, attendance, and positive progression outcomes, the role contributes directly to the College’s retention, achievement, and destination targets while working across one or more curriculum areas as required.

About the role:

• Supporting students with their induction and orientation to the College, in liaison with other curriculum staff, to help them to identify their planned destinations and any barriers to learning, supporting the 42-day focus process leading to increased retention.
• To have a particular focus in the first few weeks of the academic year on students who enrol late, or who show signs of disengagement or detachment in the early stages of their study programmes, to keep them on programme.
• Reviewing students’ overall attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and attitudes to learning, taking swift and appropriate action as necessary, including the use of the College attendance and / or disciplinary policy, supported by programme leaders and other involved teaching staff.
• To support the course team and students with to find, secure, record and complete, 30 hours of work-related experience placement in line with college processes.
• Delivery, developing and adapting Personal Development sessions and resources in line with a co-ordinated College approach to ensure the most appropriate delivery for your students but not limited to: • progression • employability • safeguarding • preventing radicalisation • staying safe • bullying and harassment • British values
• Using relevant software such as Google classroom to deliver aspects of the Personal Development Programme, especially work experience and employability.
• Developing a personal understanding of each tutee by holding regular one to one tutorials (non-academic) and supporting them to complete all parts of their Programme of Study to the requisite level, including maths, English and Work Related hours.

Essential Experience:

• Experience of working face to face with different age and client groups, but particularly with 16-19 year olds.
• Experience of supporting, motivating and mentoring individuals against goals.
• Experience of handling difficult situations, including confrontation, in a calm and effective way.
• Proven experience of working in a busy environment, managing conflicting priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Proven record of willingness to take initiative, adapt and being proactive.
• Proven record of working positively and collaboratively across internal teams, management, key stakeholders and colleagues developing and maintaining positive working relationships. Working together towards the same end goal.
• Experience of working with various forms of communication including email, texting and telephone
• Direct experience of inputting data into databases, accurately and with good use of English.

Essential Qualifications:

• Education to level 3 or above and/or a professional qualification in relevant subject area or equivalent
• Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics GCSE 4+ or C and above / CSE Level 1 / O-Level C or above / Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy or equivalent
• Level 3 or 4 mentoring / coaching qualification or willingness to achieve.
