Dessert Cafe Assistant job at Edinburgh Full Time NEW

We are looking for a Cafe Assistant to join us at our busy dessert cafe in the centre of Edinburgh. Part-time and full-time positions available. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting management in maintaining a positive environment and providing an efficient and friendly service, ensuring the highest quality experience for both our customers and team members. Various hours available from part time to full time. Shift patterns vary from 8am to midnight.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, drink preparation, and food preparation (crepes, waffles, pancakes etc) as well as general day-to-day store maintenance.

Full training will be provided and no previous experience is essential, however, experience in the hospitality industry is preferred. Must be available over weekends and willing to work both open and closing shifts.

Responsibilities:
– Assist with food preparation and cooking in the cafe kitchen
– Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are followed at all times
– Help with inventory management and restocking of supplies
– Provide excellent customer service, including taking orders and serving food
– Upsell menu items and promote daily specials to customers
– Maintain a clean and organised cafe environment
– Handle cash transactions and operate the cash register
– Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations

Skills:
– Culinary skills: Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment is preferred but not essential
– Strong customer service skills: Ability to provide friendly and efficient service to customers
– Time management: Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
– Basic math skills: Ability to handle cash transactions and make accurate change
