Trainee HGV Driver job at Deeside Full Time NEW

Edge Transport are looking to recruit a motivated and reliable Trainee HGV Driver to join our busy local haulage team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in transport. You will initially work as a Van Driver, gaining valuable industry experience and knowledge of our operations, before progressing to complete your Class 2 (Category C) HGV licence training. Upon successful qualification, you will move into a Class 2 driving role within the business.

This is a full-time position with 45 contracted hours per week. Hours are managed over a reference period, with any additional hours paid at the standard rate.

You will be driving one of our well-maintained vehicles, all of which are under five years old.

Key Responsibilities

As a Van Driver:

• Complete daily vehicle, loading and safety checks
• Deliver goods to commercial and residential customers
• Represent Edge Transport professionally and provide excellent customer service
• Work towards fuel efficiency targets and planned route schedules
• Keep your allocated vehicle clean and presentable
• Ensure food product quality, safety and legal compliance requirements are met
• Report any vehicle damage, defects, near misses or non-conformances
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time
• Comply with all road traffic laws and company procedures

During Your Training and Following Qualification:

• Successfully complete the Class 2 HGV training programme
• Develop the skills and knowledge required to operate larger commercial vehicles safely and efficiently
• Progress into a Class 2 Driver role delivering goods across our customer network
