About the role
As a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of outpatient clinics and delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients. You will work closely with nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team, contributing to a safe and efficient patient journey.

We are looking for candidates who:
Have experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within a hospital setting
Have completed the Care Certificate
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Are compassionate, reliable, and patient-focused
Are able to work both independently and as part of a team
Have good organisational skills and can prioritise workload in a busy environment
Ideally have phlebotomy experience or are willing to undertake training

Clinical Responsibility
2.1 To practice the Care Certificate and support junior staff to achieve the standards. Communicate with tact, empathy, overcome barriers to understanding e.g., patients with physical impairment, mental health conditions or learning disabilities.
2.2 Monitoring and recording patients’ vital signs (including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation) and reporting any abnormal results to registered nursing staff. Assess comfortof patient and instigate emergency procedures.
2.3 Measuring and recording patients’ height and weight.
2.4 Performing venepuncture and venous blood sampling, after training and assessment of competency.
2.5 Undertakes a limited range of delegated clinical care duties relevant to the specific clinical area following competency sign off, for example, ECG, urinalysis, catheter removal, MRSA screening swabs, blood glucose monitoring, pregnancy testing, removal of peripheral cannula, observing patients for signs of agitation or distress, providing heightened observation through specialing/ enhanced care, recording of allergies on EPR and other clinical tasks where training/competency sign off deemed appropriate for a Band 3 HCSW that has been ratified through NAHPC.
