Here at Electricity Asset Services (EAS), we are currently looking for three Trainee Civil Operatives to join our family-run business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career in civils, gain hands on experience, and develop new skills in a supportive environment. This will be a structured training role, with the successful candidate working through a training booklet and completing a range of tasks as part of their learning and development.

The role will be based at our head office in Lochgelly, with work carried out on sites throughout Central Scotland. The position involves a 40–45 hour working week, providing a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Who we are

EAS specialise in procurement, design, management and execution of all works associated with High and Low voltage underground electricity networks on behalf of major framework contractors and Distribution Network Operators (DNO’s).

We have over 40 years combined experience specific to our services such as

HV/LV cable jointing and terminating, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, 24 hours emergency call out, project management and more. Our purpose is to positively contribute to the electrical industry, providing value to our clients, customers, and our people.

Overall, Purpose of the Role

As a Trainee Civil Operative, your role is to support Civil Operatives in day-to-day site operations while gaining valuable hands-on experience throughout the process. This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills, enhance technical knowledge, and build confidence within this field of work, all while working closely with experienced operatives and learning how work is planned, delivered, and completed to a high standard.

Main Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities

As part of the Civils Operative Team, you will be expected to perform the following tasks:

• Assisting Civil Operatives on site with day-to-day tasks
• Actively contributing to daily risk assessments and briefings to support safe working practices
• Operating plant and machinery (if trained and certified)
• Completing work instructions and risk assessments accurately and on time
• Learning how to accurately read and follow work instructions, utility maps, and drawings
• Gaining experience in completing track sheets and vehicle check sheets correctly and on time
• Upholding a professional company image at all times, including behaviour, appearance, and communication
• Working safely in a variety of outdoor environments as part of a collaborative site team
• Following instructions from supervisors and experienced operatives
• Carrying out any other duties reasonably required to support site activities and project delivery
