The UCL Faculty of Population Health Sciences (FPHS) brings together eight academic departments whose common aim is to explore and understand the underlying factors that cause ill-health and innovate to improve health worldwide. Our exciting cross-disciplinary community encompasses eight institutes and schools, including the Global Business School for Health – the world’s first business school dedicated to health.
In the recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021 results, UCL was rated No. 1 for research power and impact in medicine, health and life sciences, and we are ranked 3rd in the world and 2nd in the UK for Public Health in the 2024 Shanghai Rankings. We offer a range of high-quality undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programmes in all population health and clinical sciences areas.
You are an experienced manager who has worked in higher education (or a similar industry) for several years. You have a good understanding of the UK higher education context and experience of quality assurance work in the sector. You have knowledge of the needs of students, both in terms of teaching and learning, and broader pastoral and welfare requirements. You care about working kindly and in collaboration with a variety of stakeholders, and you’re able to balance competing perspectives and priorities.
You have experience of developing effective teams and leading staff, and you can set standards and improve processes. You have data analysis experience, and you are familiar with the use of performance indicators to drive student satisfaction. You are a highly organised and strategic thinker, while also culturally sensitive and able to deal with complaints and grievances. You are able to understand the dynamics of team working, negotiation, responsibility, and accountability.
